Concept bikes are exercises in design creativity. Here is a sketch of one of BMW's concept bikes. Note the bubble style gas tank and large rear cowling.
Designers look at bikes from all angles. Note the offset gas cap on the overhead view, with the notation, "cultivate asymmetry". Asymmetry is a consistent theme in the R1100S design, as is a lean, narrow look.
