MotoCentral @ The Indianapolis Inaugural MotoGP - September 12 -14, 2008
It was a historic weekend for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Motorcycles had not raced on the Brickyard in close to 100 years. All three classes of MotoGP came to the United States.Motocentral was glad to see another US round plus a round that is in our back yard.
Sunday (Race Day):
Sadly, we needed to head home Sunday morning after receiving word that our house was flooding due to all the rain in the region. We apoligize for not having having any images of the day.
IMS was not spared the rain and wind that we rode home in. The 125 race ended under a red flag with Nico Terol on the top step of the podium for the first time in his World Championship career. The 250 class was canceled due to high winds and wet conditions. MotoGP was also red flagged with eight laps to go giving Rossi the win, followed by Nicky Hayden and Jorge Lorenzo.
We will be back next year!!!!
Saturday:
The weather improved for Saturday's free practice and qualifing. The track was still overly damp in the early sessions but quickly dried. The MotoGP class dropped their times into the low 1:40's. Valentino Rossi took pole with a 1:40:776 in MotoGP. Marco Simoncelli in 250 qualifing #2 ran a 1:45:168. Pol Espargaro ran a 1:50:475 in 125 qualifing #2
Friday:

The story of the day: Rain, Rain and more Rain. the wet weather did not keep the devoted fans of MotoGP away. The special motorcycle parking is great! IMS is graciously allowing us riders to park on the back straight of the oval just before turn 3. Motocentral wants to remind all the motorcyclist parking in this area to treat this privilege with care. We want to park there again next year.
